In the past I may said stuff like: “All you need is a big back and you will have an insane physique” or “All you need is a thick neck and big traps”, but I probably said something like that to prove a certain point. The truth is that if you really want the full package then you NEED to have a complete physique. I might have also said things in the past like: “if you have a nice body and a skinny neck then your physique will be ruined” or something like that, but any muscle that is underdeveloped will look strange because it will severely be dwarfed by your other body parts.
BRING UP YOUR LAGGING MUSCLE GROUPS
I’ve seen so many people in the past with a phenomenal upper body, but they don’t train their legs. I have seen other people a lot of width, but zero thickness from the side. I have seen others with huge thighs and chicken calves or big triceps/biceps with tiny forearms.
THIS ISN’T GOING TO CUT IT IF YOU WANT THE FULL PACKAGE
I understand that genetics play a huge role and you can’t specialize everything because then you will become the jack of all trades and the master of none, but every major muscle group should still be trained at least once per week. You shouldn’t go 5 weeks without doing any direct forearm, neck or calf work.
The program that I am following at the moment consists of 4 days in the gym and one 5th day at the end of the week where I train my neck, forearms and calves.
WISE WORDS FROM A FAMOUS BODYBUILDER FROM MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA
I remember being at the gym and seeing one of the top bodybuilders in Montreal train. Between one of our sets I asked him: “what is your favorite body part to train”. I was expecting something like: “Back and shoulders” or something like that, but he actually told me that he loves all of his muscles and he has no favorites. The moral of the story is that all of the major muscle groups must be trained in order to have the full package.
CONCLUSION:
Your physique is only as good as your worst body part and that’s the truth. Look in the mirror and look at all of your weakest body parts and understand that you need to bring them up. Another thing is that you shouldn’t complain about the results if you aren’t putting in the work so blast those weak points!
