One of my biggest pet peeves is when some skinny 140lb guys tell me that they want to look like a beast but yet they don’t even have a decent strength foundation nor do they eat a lot. The strength foundation is a whole other article in itself, but I want to talk about and address the nutrition aspect because it is something that I have been noticing for quite a while now.
I have noticed that all of the biggest people that I hang out with whether they lift weights or not all have one thing in common…
THEY ALL EAT LIKE BEASTS!
By the way, when I say “big people”, I am referring to people who are 225lb and up. These people go to buffets often, they eat a ton of steak, they have champion breakfasts, they don’t take 5 minutes to finish one bite and they eat all have a huge appetite. Some of this may partially be due to genetics because I know people who have been training for years and don’t have a big appetite while I know others who are always hungry and don’t even train.

Take a look at the picture of Bob Sapp above, do you think he misses any meals or skips breakfast? Most likely not. I haven’t seen his nutrition program, but I guarantee that he eats like a man and doesn’t consider a peanut butter sandwich to be a meal. What I am trying to say here is that you have to eat like someone who weighs 250lb if you actually want to be 250lb in most cases.
One of the biggest problems with most skinny guys is that they will train like 4x per week and automatically think that they will look like a gorilla. While training 4x per week is great and I highly recommend it, your nutrition is just as important and you still have a lot to take care of outside of the gym. Here’s an example:
TOTAL AMOUNT OF HOURS IN A WEEK = 168
AVERAGE TOTAL AMOUNT OF HOURS SPENT PER WEEK IN THE GYM = 6 HOURS
AVERAGE TOTAL AMOUNT OF SLEEP PER WEEK (8 HOURS X 7) = 56 HOURS
168 – (56 + 6) = 106 TOTAL HOURS THAT YOU ARE NOT SLEEPING OR TRAINING
People have to start understanding that what you do outside of the gym is going to have a huge impact on how you will look because it is where you spend most of your time. 6 hours in the gym per week won’t make up for the rest of the time outside of the gym.
This whole bodybuilding thing is more than just a few hours here and there, its a lifestyle and if you don’t like it then maybe you should take something else. If you do like it then that’s good for you, you won’t feel like its a chore because you will be enjoying every single minute of it.
In most cases, your body will be a reflection of what you put in it and if you eat steaks and chicken then it will show while if you just eat peanut butter sandwiches all day then it will show as well.
CONCLUSION:
This was just a quick article to remind everybody that if you are eating like a beast then keep it up because it will definitely be constructive for getting massive, but if you are still underweight and don’t understand why then maybe you need get more serious with your nutrition, the food isn’t going to eat itself.
