Neck Training Will Have the BIGGEST Impact on Your Physique

There is nothing that looks goofier than somebody with a muscular body and a skinny neck, it just doesn’t look right. If you are a drug-free lifter with decent genetics and you don’t train your neck then good luck looking like you lift because it won’t happen.

The neck is the most important and underrated muscle group for aesthetics and the ultimate physique, everything else is just icing on the cake.

This is a shame because people look at me in a funny way when they see me training my neck at the gym, but they don’t know what they are missing out on.

The reason why the neck is such an important muscle is because the second people look at you, they look at your face. We live in a world where people aren’t looking at your calves or forearms when they talk to you, they are looking at your face which means that they will notice and judge your muscularity by your neck.

Yes it is true that the traps are super important as well, but I have seen people with big traps and a small neck and that could look goofy too.

The cool thing about the neck is that its not that hard to hypertrophy it and it’ll build your yoke up nicely even as a drug-free lifter.

I have seen a handful of muscular lifters with skinny necks and they all look small in my eyes.

On the other hand, you could have a mediocre upper/lower body but if you have a thick neck then you will be considered jacked.

The neck is ALWAYS being revealed to the world.

Besides the fact that some people wear scarfs, it is very hard to hide your neck. Your neck is even being revealed in the cold winters of Montreal. You don’t have to walk around like a douchebag and show off your arms, if people could see your jacked neck then nothing more has to be said, you are jacked, period.

On the flip side, if you don’t have a thick neck and you are a male then good luck trying to look jacked because your neck will always be showing and it will really be hard to tell if you train or not.

Neck standards: what is considered to be a big neck?

I don’t like to complicate anything and I like to think of getting a big neck as something similar to getting big arms. Most guys dream about getting 18 inch arms, well in my books I think that once you have an 18 inch neck then you will be considered jacked. Of course, 17 inches is also a decent number too, it really all depends on your standards and what you considered to be jacked. I personally think that you should set the bar high as far as standards are concerned. 18 inches is good, but if you think that you could eventually hit 20 inches then why not try to achieve that?

If you still aren’t convinced that the neck makes a big difference in your physique then check out the 3 photos below, they’ll open up your eyes a little more.

You can’t tell how much these guys with thick necks weigh, but just the fact that they look big from a peripheral vision point of view makes them look like they are carrying a lot of muscle mass on them. If you look at the 3 before and after pictures above the person looks like he put on at least 20+ of muscle on their frame when it reality all they did was start training their neck.

What about neck training for women?

If you are a female and you are wondering if you should train your neck or not then it is really up to you. I personally wouldn’t mind being with a girl with a strong neck, but just as long as it doesn’t get too big because that could look a bit too masculine for my liking. On the flip side, I do also find it to be a turnoff if the girl has a pencil thin neck too so a bit in between would be nice.

CONCLUSION:

If you want to look jacked then start training that neck. I have posted many articles on this site about neck training so I don’t have to do it all over again. This article was to show you that people have to start training their necks if they want to look jacked. Start training your neck with direct work at a bare minimum of once per week for at least 20 minutes and you will eventually be on your way to achieving the power look.

There is a saying in the bodybuilding world that goes like: “Don’t skip leg day”. Today I am going to reinvent the wheel by saying: Don’t skip neck day.
