I honestly can’t even keep track of the years anymore because time is going by so fast, all I know is that I have to set goals and deadlines.
I believe in getting sh*t done.
Last year I decided to buy a large paper and write down all of my training goals, job goals and any other goal that I could possibly think of. I was actually able to accomplish 9/10 of these goals 2 months before Jan 1st 2016 which was good and I was happy, but not fully satisfied either.
Enough about me though, I just wanted to talk about how important it is to write goals down and attack them. When you write goals down it really helps simplify and break everything down because writing things in bullet-points has a way of making things more straightforward and to the point.
DON’T TELL EVERYBODY YOUR GOALS.
Telling everybody your goals is a complete waste of time and energy because talk is cheap and words are nothing more than words. If you really want to be powerful and impressive then only tell a limited amount of people your goals (you might need help and its never bad to ask for it if it helps you move forward) and let your accomplishments speak for themselves.
DON’T AIM TOO LOW, BUT DON’T AIM TOO HIGH EITHER WHEN WRITING GOALS.
Whenever writing goals there are 2 kinds of people:
1.Those who aim way too low
2.Those who aim way too high
Those who aim too low end the year feeling like they could have done more and the ones who aim too high end the year with not too much that was done because they set the bar way too high.
I have seen with my own eyes people who said that they wanted to make $100,000 by the summertime (from January) and didn’t even end up making 1/5th of it so if you are going to aim high then atleast make sure that you have some sort of plan because hope alone doesn’t get you anywhere, I can promise you that.
BE SOMEWHAT REALISTIC, BUT STILL SET YOUR STANDARDS SOMEWHAT HIGH.
At the end of the day, you still want to set some standards that are somewhat high because you understand that you have potential and you have high expectations of what you can accomplish within a years time-frame.
MINIMIZE IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE.
One of the main reasons why most people don’t accomplish all of their goals is because there is too much overall clutter in their lives so it is important that you eliminate the useless crap in your life in order for everything to be more straight-forward. You want to get rid of as many distractions as humanly possible because all these distractions will do for you is just waste time. For example, I just had 130 contacts on my phone but I deleted 100 contacts in the past month. Yes it is true that some of them were people that I got along well with, but they aren’t the best people to have around if I want to accomplish all of my goals so I had to cut them off and tighten my circle, oh well.
“EVERYDAY IS LIKE A MINI-LIFE”
A year has 365 days which is a long time, but if you really want to accomplish all of your goals then you have to understand that there are no days off. We all have the same 24 hours in a day and there are no excuses, maximize every day and make it happen.
The best dreams are the ones when you aren’t sleeping.
